Literacy
  • Read the story ‘Winnie’s Pirate Adventure’ and write sentences to describe the character and setting.  

  • Practice spelling all of our tricky words.  

  • Phonics – practise reading and spelling words with the sounds in we have learnt so far focusing on words with more than one syllable. 

Maths 

To find and explain different ways to make 10.  

Understanding the World
  • Recap the signs of summer and go on a summer walk around the school grounds.  

  • Explore the woodland area. 

Expressive Art and Design
  • Revise the skill of colour mixing and paint our self-portraits.  

  • To continue practising using Djembe Drums to music. 

Physical Development
  • Develop our fine motor skills through a range of different activities – e.g. cutting, drawing, handwriting. 

  • Practise sports day activities.  

Personal, Social and Emotional Development 

  • Recap different emotions and act out emotions for our friends to guess.

It is impossible to cover in this outline all the learning that takes place during a week!  We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
