Ethos, Vision & Values
Our Shared Vision
At Southwater Infant Academy, we strive to nurture and develop children from their own starting points so they grow into creative global citizens who aspire and achieve. Our curriculum is built around the children and community we serve, enriched by memorable experiences and meaningful opportunities that inspire a lifelong love of learning.

Our Values
Our values are at the heart of everything we do. They help to create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
The Academy Values are known and respected by the whole school community. They are displayed in every classroom and throughout the academy, taught through assemblies and our PSHE curriculum, and revisited regularly in everyday school life. By consistently promoting these values, we help children develop the attitudes, behaviours and character needed to become responsible and successful citizens.
Our core values of Respect, Kindness and Honesty guide the way we treat ourselves, others and the world around us. These values are reflected in our everyday expectations of being:

Developing Successful Learners
Alongside our Academy Values, our Learning Powers help children develop the learning behaviours needed to become confident, resilient and independent learners.
Through Leo Lion (Courage), Bertie Bee (Collaboration), Oscar Owl (Communication), Tammy Tortoise (Perseverance) and Una Unicorn (Creativity), children are encouraged to take risks, work together, communicate effectively, persevere when learning is challenging and think creatively. These learning behaviours complement our vision and values, helping every child to achieve their full potential.
Together, our vision, values and learning behaviours create a culture where children feel safe, valued and inspired to learn, enabling them to develop the knowledge, skills and character needed for the next stage of their education and beyond.
