Our Academy
Welcome from our Headteacher
Hello and thank you for taking the time to find out more about The Southwater Infant Academy.
Being a headteacher is an incredible privilege, and I feel truly fortunate to lead such a wonderful school community. Every day, I'm inspired by the curiosity, enthusiasm and kindness of our children, and the dedication of our staff who work tirelessly to help every child flourish.
What drives me as a Headteacher
I've always believed that the early years of a child's education are the most important. This is when we nurture a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives. It's when we help children discover their strengths, build their confidence and develop the resilience they'll need as they grow.
At Southwater Infants, we don't just focus on academic achievement, we're equally committed to developing the whole child- their social skills, their emotional wellbeing, their creativity and their sense of right and wrong.

Our Community
What makes our school truly special is the sense of community we've built together. Our staff know every child as an individual – their interests, their challenges, their personalities. We celebrate their successes, support them through difficulties, and work in close partnership with families to ensure every child gets the best possible start.
I'm particularly proud of how our children look after one another. The kindness and respect they show each other creates a warm, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels they belong.
Learning beyond the classroom
One of the things I love most about our school is our beautiful outdoor space. Our extensive grounds and woodland area are an essential part of how we teach. Whether children are exploring nature, building dens, or simply having space to play and imagine, these experiences are just as valuable as what happens in the classroom.
Partnership with families
I strongly believe that children thrive when home and school work together. We value your insights as parents and carers – after all, you know your child better than anyone. Our door is always open, and I encourage you to speak to us about anything, whether it's a concern, a celebration, or simply to share something about your child that will help us support them better.
Looking ahead
As we continue to grow and develop as an academy, our focus remains firmly on what matters most- ensuring every child in our care feels happy, safe, valued and excited about learning. It's what drives everything we do.
If you'd like to visit us and see our school in action, I'd be delighted to show you around. There's no substitute for experiencing the atmosphere of our academy firsthand and meeting the wonderful children and staff who make it such a special place.
I look forward to welcoming you to The Southwater Infant Academy.
