Phonics and handwriting

 

In Literacy we will continue to look at the story The Last Wolf.   

This week we will be retelling the story of the Last Wolf. The children will draw a story map to help them sequence pictures from the story. They will then use this to help them write their own version. We will be focusing on using time adverbials at the start of our sentences, such as First, Next, Just then, Meanwhile and Suddenly

Phonics: This week in phonics we will be looking at syllables in words.  

Handwriting: Bottom joins er

Maths

In Maths we will be continuing to explore the composition of the numbers 11-19. We will explore how a number is even if the ones digit is even and this can be made from groups of two. We will also explore how a number is odd if the ones digit is odd, this cannot be made from groups of two

Wider Curriculum 

Science – To identify and describe a range of common trees  

RSHE – Physical Health and Mental Wellbeing- To understand the importance of exercise and rest.  

PE – Rackets, bats and balls- Refine pushing (dribbling) a ball with a racket: Applying learning  

Geography: Orienteering- To know what symbols on a map represent. 

Art: Andy Goldsworthy –3D sculpture – using rocks / stones   

To model in natural materials to assemble basic shapes or forms. 

RE: To retell and discuss how Jesus taught his followers to live by telling the story of The Good Samaritan 

Other Information

Ivy Class start Forest School starts on Friday 3rd May.

It is impossible to cover in this outline all the learning that takes place during a week!  We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
