Please find below our Parent Overview detailing what our children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are learning this week.

Communication & Language 
  • New vocabulary – jubilee, royal, reign, coronation, platinum, habitat, shamrock 

  • To recite the poem ‘A Cup of Tea? 

  • To practice the reading and spelling of all our tricky words. 

  • To apply the sounds igh and oa within our writing. 

  • To retell the story of Fidgety Fish using a story map. 

  • To write our own sentences with a capital letter and full stop, inspired by our favourite characters. 

  • To subtract 

  • To read and record subtraction number sentences 

Understanding the world 
  • Where different sea creatures live and how they are suited to that habitat. 

  • About the Queen’s life and the reasons for celebrating her jubilee. 

Expressive arts and design
  • To create a class tapestry picture to add to the school Jubilee display. 

  • To collage shamrocks to contribute to the church’s jubilee display 

Physical Development 
  • To move a ball with control using our feet. 

  • Explore linking a sequence of movements to tell a story. 

  • to form the capital letters R and T. 

Personal, social and emotional development 

To stay safe in the sun.

It is impossible to cover in this outline all the learning that takes place during a week!  We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
