Parent Overview EYFS

Please find below our Parent Overview detailing what our children in the Early Years Foundation Stage are learning this week. Date w/c 13/04/26

Curriculum area	We are learning to…
Language and communication	Learn new vocabulary – habitat, ocean, diet, healthy, plasticine. Play listening games to develop my communication skills.
Literacy	Spell the tricky words ‘so, ‘like’, and ‘have’. Practise reading and spelling words using the sounds: ow, nk, air, ear and ure. Practise forming Long Ladder Letter y Practise forming One-Armed Robot Letters: n, m and h.
Maths	To subitise arrangements beyond 5. To represent 8 in different ways.
Understanding the World	To share facts about a sea creature from our ‘Takeaway Task’.
Expressive Art and Design	To create a sea creature using clay.
Physical Development	Explore rolling a ball using our feet. Explore different movements using different body parts. Hold a pencil effectively. Practise our formation of: y, n, m and h.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development	Understand ways in which we can keep healthy.

Please note this is a basic overview of the planning for this week. It is impossible to cover in this outline all the learning that takes place during a week! We also believe in listening to your children and responding to their interests and ideas therefore all our planning is flexible. Please note some of the learning will take place across more than one week and during some weeks the learning focus may not cover all curriculum areas.
