Letter regarding Proposed List of Key Workers

Please see full news story regarding proposed Key Worker List.

Dear Families,

In the continued absence of any information about Key Workers from the Government, we have put together a proposed list of Key Worker groups to able us to move forwards with planning for the continued care of these families’ children. Please be aware that this is an initial list we have drawn up ourselves. Once the Government release their own list we will add any other categories of workers as appropriate.

  • All NHS staff, including cleaners and admin staff
  • Police
  • Fire workers
  • Supermarket workers
  • Delivery drivers
  • State school staff
  • Carers
  • Social workers
  • Postal workers
  • Refuse collectors

We would like all our families who work in one the above occupations to please get in contact with us via email reply@southwaterinfants.co.uk and let us know. We would also ask that anyone who is not in one of the above occupations, but feels that their role is crucial in supporting the community to also get in touch. While we cannot make any guarantees of childcare at this point, we will do our best to meet the needs of our community. We would also ask that, if families have one parent who is not in one of the above categories who could look after the children, or another family member who is under the age of 70 who could take on this role you please do not apply for one of the places. We do need to ensure that we are able to support as many essential workers as possible at this point, so if it is not essential for you to request a place for your child please allow someone else to have it.

The government has made clear that in two parent households, if one parent is a key worker the other parent is expected to care for their child(ren) at home.

To help us plan effectively and ensure that, as spaces will be limited, we would ask that you provide all the following information via email reply@southwaterinfants.co.uk. Please send this via email rather than phone, as we will be inundated with calls otherwise! Please send this information as soon as you are able, and at the latest by lunchtime tomorrow, to give us time to plan for next week.

Your name

Your occupation

Your partner’s occupation (if relevant)

Your child / children’s names and classes

Any older / younger siblings that will also need childcare (please be aware that we are not offering to provide this at this point) and their ages

An indication of your working hours if this is possible.

Please note that this is not a guarantee of childcare, we are simply trying to get an idea of numbers to enable us to start prioritising the support we can give. We will contact everyone who informs us of needing childcare with a response as soon as we are able, however this will be dependent on the timing of us receiving the official list and having time to edit any key worker categories before we finalise the arrangements from Monday.

I would like to thank you for your patience regarding this, and for your continued support.
