Academy Hours

8.50am – 3.15pm

Arrival and Departure

The academy bell is rung at 8.50am and children are collected from the playground by their teachers. If parents wish to speak to the Headteacher or office staff they should enter the building through the front entrance. 

At the end of the afternoon, Parents should collect their children from the classroom door.  A child will only be handed over to a parent unless instructions are given for collection by another named adult. 

All Infant Academy children must be accompanied to and from the academy by an adult everyday throughout their time at the Infant Academy.

If parents wish to speak to their child’s teacher they should telephone to make an appointment or make contact via a note or letter.

Safety Outside the Academy

Walking, cycling or scooting is encouraged and will reduce congestion and make the journey to the academy more enjoyable. As part of our travel plan initiative we have storage for cycles and scooters and we encourage parents to make a promise to park away from the academy and walk in if at all possible. This is called The Parking Promise.

Parking outside the academy is limited. If a car journey is essential, parents are asked not obstruct the academy approach road or the entrance or exit of the lay-by and leave a passing space through the parked vehicles. Parents are also asked to consider our neighbours when parking in the roads surrounding the academy, ensuring driveways and parking spaces are not blocked. Parking is not permitted in the staff car park at any time except by prior arrangement as we have a disabled parking bay available.

Child Protection and Safeguarding

Child protection and safeguarding are given the highest priority in the academy.  All staff are required to report and record in writing any concerns they may have concerning a child’s well-being.  The Headteacher, as Designated Member of Staff for Safeguarding, will decide if any welfare issues should be discussed with, or referred to, Social Services.

All members of staff, trustees, parent helpers and other adults working or helping in the academy are DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) checked to ensure they have no criminal convictions that would preclude them from working with children.  When appointing new members of staff the selection panel will always contain at least one member trained in safer recruiting.  Safeguarding Policy

Parents and our Academy

Our aim is to develop a strong partnership between home and the academy for the benefit of every child.  It is recognised that parents are a major influence in the education of children. There is a quantity of research evidence to show that the greatest progress in school is made by children whose parents and teachers co-operate and consult. We want parents to feel welcome and that they can take an active part role in the work of the academy. It is important that every family feels able to discuss concerns they may have about children or family circumstances. The first years of a child’s formal education should be a time of excitement and beginnings which are rewarding for everyone involved with the child.
