Community

The Academy is very active in the local community and has as an important role in developing understanding of citizenship and the importance of community cohesion. Community links with a range of organisations including the RSPCA, Southwater Horticultural Society, local churches, Southwater Country Park, Parish Council and numerous local companies contribute to the learning experiences of the children throughout the year.

Close links with the pre-schools within Southwater and Horsham are maintained.  Locally, Little Acorns nursery operates from the Academy site while Holy Innocents Playgroup and the Southwater Village Hall Pre-school are nearby.

The academy also provides before and after school facilities club which is run by an external provider, Kids Like Us and operates in the school hall.

About the Horsham area

Surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the South Downs, this historic town offers the best of both worlds.  A real country feel, cosmopolitan flair, super- fast broadband and easy road and rail access to airports, beaches and London.

Horsham dates back to the 13th Century and sits in the heart of the Sussex Weald.  The characterful market place and mostly pedestrianised town centre allows for a variety of retail and entertainment experiences.  Small deli style cafe’s, pubs, fantastic fish and chips, Michelin star restaurants, and everything in between; Horsham caters for every occasion and flavour.

The active and nature loving enjoy Horsham Park and the many cycling and walking routes around town.  Whilst the South Downs National park, Southwater Country Park and Southdowns link, along with Warnham local Nature Reserve are all on our doorstep.

Horsham is surrounded by renowned wineries and cultural destination towns.  An active District Council fosters a sense of community by providing events for people to have fun together like Sparks in the Park, The BIG Nibble, Piazza Italia, French Festival, Broadwood Day of Morris, and many other festive celebrations throughout the year.

Horsham celebrates and respects its past and is equally excited about its future.  For more information visit www.visithorsham.co.uk
