Fairtrade Fortnight

The children have enjoyed finding out about Fairtrade and what it means for farmers and their families all over the world.  This year the focus of Fairtrade Fortnight has been on bananas and the children have found out all about a banana farmer called Foncho who lives in Columbia.  The children have discussed paying a fair price for produce and have enjoyed using bananas to make banana cake and banana bread which have been sold at the end of the day.  Our Fairtrade Ambassadors hosted a coffee morning for parents where they talked about Fairtrade, the products available in shops and supermarkets and what we can all do to help.  We received some fantastic feedback from this event.

"What a brilliant event! Great to see the children so enthusiastic about Fairtrade and to see the results of all their hard work.  The coffee was nice too!"
